Affordable Therapy with Graduate Therapists in Austin, Texas

Are you seeking individual, couple, or family counseling, but struggling to find a clinician that fits within your price range? Autonomy Therapy partners with St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX to offer reduced cost, eating disorder-informed care.

What are the benefits of working with a student?

Our students are passionate and eager to connect with clients! They participate in a thorough onboarding process, receive fundamental education in eating disorder care, and attend both weekly supervision and as well as biweekly consultation with the rest of our team for ample support – in addition to the education and experience gained through their rigorous Master’s program.

Affordable, High Quality Care

At Autonomy Therapy, one of our primary values is accessibility – we want to ensure that each and every client who contacts us has a therapeutic option that’s doable for them. We believe that finances should not be the barrier to receiving the help that you need and deserve. Our students offer very accessible rates, including a sliding scale based on income and household size to prioritize financial accessibility.

What if I want to work with someone more experienced?

We totally understand, and we have plenty of options if you are seeking a more experienced therapist. That being said, newer therapists have their own strengths!

Research shows that the therapeutic relationship is the biggest predictor of success. Our graduate therapists build a strong foundation in clinical skills throughout their graduate program, and practice those skills before ever meeting with clients. Graduate student therapists also bring fresh energy to the work and are incredibly motivated.

Another perk? You’re actually getting three therapists for less than the price of one! All graduate students on our team are currently being supervised by Autonomy Owner & Founder, Kim Fry, LMFT-S, and have weekly supervision with the PhD professor of their internship class. This means that you’re benefiting from the student’s education and experience, plus the wisdom and experience of their supervisor and professor behind the scenes.
