Say hello to Autonomy Therapist Phoebe Rankin (She/Her)

LCSW

Clinical Therapist

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who believes therapy works best when it feels human, collaborative, and grounded in honesty and care. I work with clients ages 14 and up who are navigating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, neurodivergent brains, and the many layers of identity that come with being part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I also work with individuals and partners in non-traditionally structured relationships, including ethically non-monogamous (ENM) and polyamorous relationships.

My approach is deeply relational—meaning our work starts with getting to know you as a whole person, not just a list of symptoms. We’ll explore your experiences, the patterns you’ve learned to survive, and how those patterns may now be keeping you stuck. I’m warm, compassionate, and validating. I also value and model both honesty and direct communication in my client relationships, because breaking cycles (especially generational ones) usually requires more than just insight and good intentions.

I’m especially passionate about working with folks in the LGBTQIA2S+ community, people who were late- or early-diagnosed as neurodivergent and are finally making sense of why the world has always felt a little off, and individuals or partners navigating non-traditional relationship structures. My ideal clients are those ready to do meaningful work: unpack trauma, challenge inherited survival strategies, strengthen communication and attachment, and intentionally build a life that feels more aligned, peaceful, and authentic.

Over the course of my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with children in foster care, queer and trans clients, individuals harmed by systemic oppression, those still navigating it daily, grieving clients, and people facing terminal illness. These experiences shape my belief that no one should have to carry their pain alone—and that healing doesn’t mean “fixing” yourself, but learning how to live with more freedom and choice.

I use trauma-informed approaches and am EMDR-informed. If you’re looking for a therapist who will sit with you in the hard stuff, gently name patterns when they repeat, and support you in building relationships and a life that actually feels worth living—you don’t have to do that work alone anymore.
