Say hello to Autonomy Therapist Cat Altimont (They/She)

Supervised by: Phoebe Rankin, LCSW

St. Edward’s Graduate Student

Therapist in training

Change is a constant. Acknowledging your body and mind’s ability to do so takes courage that is frequently dismissed, particularly if this is not the first time we have tried to grow. I want to honor that feeling and thank you for being here.

I believe we understand our world through the use of storytelling. My therapeutic approach focuses on building curiosity and exploring how and where we learned these stories, how they impact our personal values, and how they extend into our lives. Within our sessions, I’ll use a mix of different techniques including parts work, Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), and Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) onto a foundation of Narrative Therapy. I’ll walk with you as you untangle your personal story. I’m here to empathically listen and collaborate with you about the values you hold, the parts of yourself that have been denied a voice, and the patterns within your story.

As a therapist-in-training at St. Edward’s University, I have enjoyed working with children (6+) and adults across all age groups. To create a safe and non-judgmental space, my work is trauma-informed and focuses on de-stigmatizing health, weight, race, identity, and ability. I enjoy working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, identity and life transitions, political and environmental anxiety, trauma, and the complex intersections that occur between these experiences. I am particularly passionate about working with individuals in helping professions, LGBTQIA2S+, and neurodivergent populations.

Outside of the office, you’ll likely find me prepping my next Dungeons & Dragons session, drawing, reading, or watching a movie. I’m a big nerd, and love to incorporate the stories we experience in media into our sessions to explore what about these stories speak to us.
